Sunday Scroll #75
GRWM: Moving Abroad Edition, the woman curating your Spotify playlists, finances of a digital nomad, + the bowl recipe we can't stop eating
Happy Sunday, and hello from NYC! We’ve been celebrating Tyler and Caroline’s tenth birthdays up here (a sweet, heartfelt tradition in our family) and having a blast! Getting a limo into the city (omg you should’ve seen their faces), letting them take my phone to navigate the streets of Manhattan for us, trips to the M&M store and FAO Schwartz, seeing Wicked on Broadway—it’s been such a whirlwind of fun.
You want to know my favorite thing about this trip? Along the way, I’ve been giving them letters to read from people in their corner, reminding them how much they’re loved.
Whew. I don’t know how these two are ten (!), but I’m so thankful for them.
Okay, now that my eyes are a little misty, I think it’s time for some reads!
Get Ready with Me: moving abroad edition. Want to know what it’s like to move to France for baking school in your mid-thirties? Here you go. (spoiler alert: it’s a bit more complicated than you think)
Speaking of traveling abroad: “Our finances! How are we able to afford continuous travel?” Clearly I have travel on the brain! This couple traded in their Seattle life to cross the grobe as digital nomads. This breakdown of their finances is fascinating, and I appreciated how open they were about how they make it work. Would you do this?
Make every day a vacation. Why do I feel so much better on vacation? Are there some pieces of joy and spontaneity I can bring back with me?? (The answer is: yes, absolutely!)
A simpler way to think about teens and phones. Love the perspective: focus on what you’re protecting rather than what you’re prohibiting.
Welcome to my Pretend Cooking Show! Today we’re making Bang Bang Egg Roll Bowls. Our family has been eating this on repeat for the last couple of weeks. Protein. Veggies. Easy. Good. The end. Coming your way in The Simplified Cookbook! (Which is coming out in, like, a month?!)
The Spotify playlist power broker who makes or breaks new artists. Did you know Spotify has people who curate playlists? Me neither! Sulinna Ong may have the coolest job in the world.
How to build an emergency kit: a minimalist’s guide. Something we never want to think about or need, but smart to have on hand. This is a good list.
Is Netflix dumbing down TV so people can watch while scrolling? I cannot stop thinking about this article.
Eight words to say to a(n exhausted) friend. Such a good idea! This is what my friends have done for me when I’ve been burned out beyond belief (along with dropping off meals at the door with a simple text, without me having to ask).
These are the Forever Stamps designs we’re getting in 2025. Baby animals! Betty White!!
Just a few more weeks til The Simplified Cookbook is in your hands! Last week I finally got to share the FREE pre-order goodies we’ve been working on for you:

My 5 favorite weeknight dinners
10 hacks to make cooking simpler

A FREE 30-day subscription to my Substack! (if you’re been on the free subscription and curious about getting behind the paywall, this is the perfect opportunity!)
