Your Recipe for a Cozy Fall Weekend In
The foods, books, and TV / movies perfect for a weekend in your soft clothes -- all curated by mood.
I have a thing for Octobers. I think it’s because summer is just so long and so hot in Florida. But here it comes… the cooler weather. All my sweaters… the big blankets and the fire in the fire place. Apples and cinnamon and pumpkins and all the things that fill me with warmth, that remind me we’re entering a season of… well, if not slowing down, then at least spending more time with our people in settings that invite us to linger a bit.
My love for Octobers began in 2008. October 18 to be exact. That’s the day I married Bryan. After a summer filled with scorching days, that morning I woke up and I felt it—the feeling of cool, crisp air for the first time in months. You know the feeling. You walk outside and suddenly feel like you can take a deep breath because the humidity and the temperatures have dropped so significantly? Well, fall arrived the day I became a bride, and ever since, I associate fall with a feeling of renewal, that anything is possible, that good change can come into our lives when we just hold on a bit longer. I love it, I love it, I love it.
These days, when I wake up to the first cool, crisp morning, I smile to myself and think, This weekend… will be my cozy reset. It’s a weekend every year when I let myself lean into the softer parts of the season—the books, the TV shows and movies, and the foods that make me feel happy to be nestled in for a weekend at home. To me, those are the three things I need for a cozy fall reset: something to watch, something to read, and something to eat. I’ve curated a few of my favorite things, based on a few different moods I have this time of year. Maybe they’ll get you jumpstarted on your own fall reset!
PS: all the “what to watch” links go to IMDB for up-to-date info on where you can stream/rent/buy that show or movie.
