Sunday Scroll #92
36 perfect convo starters, Hoda's Joy Era, what *not* to put in the entryway, & how to squeeze in more reading time

Happy Sunday! How are you this morning? I am tired but full after a whirlwind week (but, really, when is it not a whirlwind week in May?). I hopped off a boat from the Bahamas then hopped on a plane to DC.
It was my very first trip to DC. Can you believe it? I was so emotional walking around, just taking in all of the history. The family group chat was on fire. We are for sure taking the kids back soon!
Why was I in DC? To meet with my attorneys at the New Civil Liberties Alliance, the firm representing my case. Speaking of, did you see the tariffs were ruled illegal by a federal judicial panel this week?? This whole thing is far from over, I know, but I’m so thrilled for my fellow small businesses and for consumers everywhere.
Anyway, this isn’t quite how I saw my year going, but c’est la vie. I wrote more about what’s going on with us in an old-school blog post. You guys seemed to like it, so I might do these more often??
Are y’all ready for some links? I’ve got some good ones for you this week!
Hoda is ready for her Joy Era. I wish nothing but joy to Queen Hoda!!! Here’s what she’s up to now.
How do you divide labor in your house? A nonprofit consultant and freelance designer in Vermont tell us. The Division of Labor series on The Purse is one of my favorites on Substack. I’ll take any chance to peek into someone else’s house to see how they run it all.
7 things professional organizers never store in the entryway. So guilty of #6 and #7. 🙈
Does Jess Pan write the best essays on Substack? I think she might! She’s a witty, insightful American introvert who works at a London bookshop. Each of her essays is hilarious, and her latest is no exception.
This carb is key to helping gut health—and it’s already in your pantry. As I get closer to perimenopause, I’m nerding out over how to help my gut health. Fascinating!
How to squeeze more leisure reading into your schedule. Because summer’s the perfect time for more books!
Julie Andrews shares why therapy saved her life. A PSA to remind you: therapy is for everyone. Even if you’re just searching for clarity.
36 conversation starters for every occasion. Sometimes all you need to unlock an interesting experience with a stranger is to ask a good question. There are some good ones in here!
A happy little thing: this stunning NYC stoop is filled with flowers made of this surprising thing. I can’t believe how beautiful these are! People are so creative.
“In lieu of gifts, my wife asked everyone to bring this to her birthday party.” Um . . . 🤣

House edition edit! These are the things making my house feel a little more streamlined, luxe, and cozy these days.
This utility cart. This is so handy for the kitchen, but I’ve also got one in my office to corral new Simplified samples. Cuts down on clutter big-time!
The Bergamot set from Salt & Stone. This is *the* perfect frangrance for summer. A little citrus, a little woodsy—it smells so clean and fresh.
Bearaby Weighted Blankets. I am President of the pretend Bearaby Fan Club. I'm completely obsessed with Bearaby weighted blankets—I literally have one at home, one at the lake, a travel version, Bryan has his own, and I've gotten one for each of the kids because they're just that good at helping you settle down and actually fall asleep, easily making my top five list of products I'm always recommending to friends. *
Heads up, digital planner lovers! We’ve got fresh files for the upcoming August 2025 – July 2026 academic year ready for you. 🎉
When the topic of marriage or finance comes up, people often ask me if Bryan and I have combined or split finances. So we decided to open up about it! Head to Bryan’s Substack In Leyman’s Terms to learn all about:
if we combine our checking accounts and credit cards
what we learned about finances from the way our parents handled money in their marriages
how we pay our bills
That’s all I’ve got for you today. Enjoy your week, and don’t forget to wear your sunscreen!
* Thanks to Bearaby for sponsoring this week’s Sunday Scroll.
I've only been to DC once. It was a band trip in HS. I don't have fond memories even 30 years later. LOL
I loved the post about entry ways! So happy for Hoda and her new era too!
