Hi friends! Happy Sunday! I cannot believe August is nearly here. Actually, yes I can because it is twelve thousand degrees outside. It is just entirely too hot to do anything other than swim, read (inside), or nap. I am terrified of how hot its going to be in August in Florida. I digress. This week was chaotic and fun. Tyler and I travelled to Greenville, SC then onto Tuxedo, NC to pick Caroline up from camp. Their reunion (after eight weeks apart) was one for the books. Happy tears abound! We’re all back home now and preparing for another school year to begin entirely too soon (only three more weeks of summer here!)
I treated myself to a new pair of blue light filtering glasses from Warby Parker and I love them. Warby Parker’s quality is just so good. Another spot-on post from Grace about summer malaise. I was just having a conversation with my team last week about this, and feeling like my drive and ambition are currently nowhere to me found. I had big plans (as I always do) for the summer — a laundry list of items I wanted to accomplish, things in my business I wanted to refresh and streamline. But honestly, I’m having such a hard time summoning the energy. I know it’s just a typical summer lull, and the calm before the business that comes with back to school season, the holidays, etc. Grace said it best: “My ambition is a little out to lunch right now and I’m choosing to see it as a temporary state, something to maybe even savor a little bit.” Amen to that.
This post made me tear up (and immediately want to start writing birthday letters to my kids for them to read one day).
As an elder millennial who grew up on anti-smoking commercials, this deep-dive into why cigarettes are suddenly cool again was an interesting look at nostalgia, celebrity culture, and the wellness backlash. It’s also a good reminder about what’s floating around in our kids’ feeds.
This $30 packable duffle was the MVP of getting Caroline home from camp! It folds up to about 6x6in and unfolds to a giant duffle if needed. Caroline brought way more home with her on the plane than I anticipated.
Traveling this week also reminded me how much I love this travel backpack (I didn’t even bring a purse) and these comfy pants. Both splurges, both worth it.
I picked up these swim trunks from Onward Reserve for Brady and they were a huge hit! While I was on the site I also spotted this hat which I think could be a very fun surprise for the football fan in your life, and these Waffle House socks which may be making their way into Brady’s stocking this year…
Taking the long way home, living life more seasonally, experimenting with color and other practical ways to infuse a bit of whimsy into your life!

44 years old and in the throes of perimenopause and thinking more and more I may have ADHD. My older son was dx years ago and apparently my parents had me evaluated as a child but they were told that because I slept well and did well in school, I was just “spirited.” 🙃 Looking forward to hearing your story!
