Sunday Scroll #146
French Sundays, a regulated nervous system, and the luxury bag market
Happy Sunday! It’s HOT outside. We’re at the lake this morning, but heading to Greenville, SC in a few hours to meet up with some friends before Camp Greystone drop off tomorrow! Caroline is headed to camp for five whole weeks and I don’t know how I’m going to live without her that long. She, however, is pumped! I’ve gathered some really good links to share with you this week, so without further ado… please enjoy your Sunday Scroll.
An Instagram friend sent me this award winning digital museum exhibit that breaks down the history of summer camps in Western North Carolina. There are quite a few based there and I always assumed it was because the summer weather is fantastic in that part of the country. A really interesting read.
Bryan and I sat down on Thursday to talk about the challenges our children will face as they set out to become financially stable (hopefully successful) adults. There are three big forces working against them and we have thoughts about what to do about it all.
10 habits that make adulthood feel less exhausting by ayushi thakkar. I’ve never clicked a link so fast.

Happy to report I’ve found the perfect summer pool bag (which would make a fantastic gift by the way). It wipes clean and I got so many compliments on it at the pool last weekend. I got this one for myself and this FUN one for Caroline.
What exactly is a French Sunday and why is everybody talking about it? I like to believe I coined the phrase Sunday Prep, so I have feelings about this. I need my Sunday reset but could also get behind this slow living idea.
Tuckernuck co-founder and CEO, Jocelyn Gailliot’s newly renovated Georgetown home is stunning. It was actually her childhood home (built in 1815) that she purchased from her parents. (PS: did you see Julia Berolzheimer’s edit with Tuckernuck? Love this skirt and ordered this knit dress).
During my recent trip to D.C., I wore this white dress and these nude heels (I’ve had these for years). My feet did not hurt a bit walking around the Hill and standing for hours. These are on my wishlist.
These Spanx leggings are better than the Lululemon Align leggings. I said what I said. It’s the tummy compression, it’s Spanx level fantastic. Plus they’re part of their Summer Sale (up to 50% off!)
I’ve long suspected I have MCAS — a mast cell disorder where overactive mast cells fire off immune reactions to no real threat. A dysregulated nervous system makes it worse. So this Substack by Megan Schnarr was interesting: 30 unconventional ways I regulate my nervous system (this isn’t your typical list)
If you’re looking for a sunless tanner that doesn’t smell like a sunless tanner (and works), this St. Tropez mousse I’ve been loving this summer is 30% off on Amazon.
I found this article from Sotheby’s, on The Luxury Price Boom of Chanel Bags fascinating. That line graph! PS: did you know you can borrow luxury handbags? I’ve been doing this for a few months and it’s SO fun adding to my wishlist.
This has been a fun addition to my skincare routine lately — applying this calming serum at night with a brush! So simple. So soothing.
Coming next week:
Amazon Prime Day (which is somehow now four actual days, not one…) kicks off next week and in an effort to share with you guys what I actually rely on, I’m sharing the unsexy Prime Day finds that are actually worth it. No endless lists of Prime Day must-buys, just the honest to goodness products I genuinely think are worth your money.

I love this idea of a French Sunday! You should check out the podcast, The Simple Luxurious Life. It’s all about slowing down and simply living! Happy Sunday!
The French Sunday sounds a lot like Sabbath to me. If you're interested in reading more on this from a Christian perspective, "The Ruthless Elimination of Hurry" by John Mark Comer is really thought provoking. I don't always get a whole day, but I do try to set aside time to rest and do things that fill my cup each week!
