Hi! It’s Sunday. I hope you’re relaxing on the couch, laundry folded and put away, meals planned, and the fridge stocked. And if you’re like me, and none of that is true, that’s okay too. :)
Welcome to the first edition of the Sunday Scroll. Ideally, this finds you with a cup of coffee, in a comfy spot, with a little time on your hands. The Sunday Scroll will be delivered to you every Sunday morning and will include links to things that will encourage you, inspire you, and make you think… all while you scroll. I’ll be sharing thoughtful articles I’ve come across (on a variety of topics that are both serious and not-so-serious), podcasts I’m listening to right now, books I’m reading (or plan to read) and more. What this list is NOT — is a list of things you should go buy. We share that stuff on Instagram. Well, ok, books may fall under “things to buy,” but I promise they’ll be worth it. Anyway, this is a bite-sized list of things to fill you up with joy, peace, and inspiration rather than all the yucky things your scroll can sometimes make you feel. Ready? Here we go with Volume 1. 10 links you’ll love + a little ICYMI from me and from Simplified this week.
Podcasts to listen to:
The Bravest Conversation We’ve Ever Had with Andrea Gibson (Glennon Doyle’s podcast, We Can Do Hard Things, Episode 215). Andrea is a spoken word artist and poet, and is also living with Stage 4 cancer (TW in this episode: discussion of suicidal ideation). Andrea discusses sexuality, living free and brave, and the most tiny / ordinary / fantastically plain parts of life. When I tell you I’ve listened to the reading of the poem at the end of this episode (about our souls telling the stars what it’s like to have a human body) seven times, I mean fifty. I cry my way through it each time because it is THAT beautiful. If you only have a few minutes, hop to 1:23:05 and listen. If you have an hour and a half, you must hear the whole episode. And if you do, please leave a comment with your thoughts. It is so powerful.
The Scamanda Podcast. Woah. I didn’t follow this gal when all this was happening, but this podcast is a wild ride. An influencer essentially fakes her cancer diagnoses and journey and fools thousands of people for years. Until it all unravels.
Taylor Swift | Every Album Podcast: My friend, Betsy, told me about this in our “Swiftie Crew” group text (yes, that’s a thing — we all went to see TS in Atlanta together)! She said this podcast’s inside scoop on the Eras Tour and each of Taylor Swift’s albums is incredible. A great light-hearted, feel good listen if you’re missing the nonstop Tik Toks from the tour. :)
