We lost my mother-in-law, unexpectedly over the weekend. A stroke took her far too soon. I fell asleep mentally cross-checking house chores and work tasks and the next thing I knew, it was 2:30am and Bryan’s phone was ringing with news that changed everything.
Life is like that, isn’t it. One minute the little things are stressing you out and the next minute perspective is reminding you that those little things are it: they’re the stuff of life. They’re not the things we have to get done so that we can enjoy life, they’re it.
All weekend I’ve had a haze over my eyes — one part scared pit in my stomach knowing how delicate life is — one part tearful gratitude for another day with my people.
