If I’m not in the middle of a good book (or two) and don’t have another on deck, I don’t quite know what to do with my hands. I’ve been an avid reader as long as I can remember. I rarely watch television because I just get so drawn in to the stories on paper. I love writing these posts because hopefully I’m filling your to-be-read stack! During my sabbatical, I read quite a few books. You can check out Part 1 here. Below, you’ll find the second half. And let me tell you, these did not disappoint. There are a few thrillers in here (of course), but most of these are biographies or inspirational books. I saved one of my absolute favorites for last. It was a repeat read for me and just as good the second time around.
The Unexpected Joy of the Ordinary by Catherine Gray
I wasn’t familiar with Catherine Gray until a friend told me about this book. When I learned she was an amazing narrator as well, I knew I had to listen to the audiobook. Catherine is British and has the most beautiful accent. I listened to this book mostly while on long walks with Walter or while waiting in carline for my kids. It’s a light read, beautifully written, and very contemplative.
On the heels of her bestseller, The Unexpected Joy of Being Sober (which I ended up reading next), this book explores Catherine’s journey to living a slower, simpler life.
