My official job at Thanksgiving is Chief Vibes Officer.

After four decades, I’ve noticed the holidays I enjoy most are the ones where I lean into my strengths. Cooking is not my spiritual gift. I know this. I embrace this. So I offer my gifts at the holidays, which include:

• Setting a beautiful table
  (It’s all about layers + textures! Should I do a post on this??)

• Finding fun things for the whole family to do
  (I rented a bounce house one year, lol. Now we keep it a bit more low-key, like going to the movies. PS: GO SEE WICKED.)

• Getting people to open up and have meaningful conversations

Really? you might be thinking. Meaningful conversations at the Thanksgiving table? Even when everyone doesn’t know each other? Even when Uncle Gary is being extra spicy?

Really.

Because you’d be amazed what happens when you ask people a few interesting questions about themselves.
