How’s this for a wild Saturday night: three of your best mom-friends, a giant charcuterie board, planners / stickers / highlighters / calendars, everyone’s favorite “stupid easy” meals, all their favorite life hacks, and lists of what they’re buying at Sam’s Club for their families.
I know, it sounds like grown-up heaven, right? 😂 Here’s how this annual get-together came to be: a few years ago, the four of us went on a girls’ trip to a nearby resort. We spent two glorious days laying by the pool, visiting the spa, and — you guessed it — talking about exactly how we each “did life” with our families. Back then, some of us had little bitty ones (the twins were 4). Now, between the four of us, we have nine children ranging from third to ninth grade. 6 boys, 3 girls. (We all met because we each have 12 year old boys who are buddies).
Before we dive in, let me also say — this conversation is GREAT for dads to join in on too. This conversation isn’t one to be had with just moms. BUT, my friends and I love the roles we play in our homes and LOVE having these conversations together. Plus, we love any chance we have to get together — just us! We take all our ideas back home and catch the dudes up to speed.
Back to our meeting: these “how do you do it” conversations went from poolside chatter to “wait, let’s go back to our rooms, grab notepads, and write these things down!” And now, we all share ideas back and forth. I invited everyone to my house this year (Bryan took our kids out for a bit) and got out all my best Simplified supplies to share. My friends brought their planners, laptops, notebooks, Amazon shopping history (😂) and favorite recipes.
